Privacy Policy

Math Tutor Time ("we," "us," or "our") provides live, one-on-one online math tutoring. We take the trust of our students, parents and tutors seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Account information. Your name, username, email address and password (stored in encrypted form). Tutors who apply also share details such as location and the subjects they teach.
  • Payment information. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Session content. What happens in a tutoring session: the shared whiteboard, chat messages, files you upload, code written in the coding tool, and session recordings (see below).
  • Scheduling and feedback. Sessions you book, minutes used, and any ratings or comments you leave.
  • Usage information. Basic technical details such as browser type, device and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar tools, including Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel. We also use Google reCAPTCHA to protect our sign-up forms from spam.

Session recordings

To maintain the quality of our tutoring, sessions may be recorded. A recording captures the shared whiteboard and the audio of the session, along with the session chat.

We use session recordings to:

  • review and improve the quality of our tutoring;
  • train and support our tutors;
  • keep sessions safe and resolve any questions or concerns about a session; and
  • showcase Math Tutor Time, for example short clips on our website, in social media posts or in advertising that show what a real session looks like.

Recordings are stored securely, are available only to authorized Math Tutor Time staff, and are automatically deleted after three weeks, except for short clips we keep for the purposes above. When we share a clip publicly, we take care to leave out last names, contact details and anything else that would identify a student. If you would prefer that your sessions not be used in promotional materials, email us at contact@mathtutortime.com and we'll honor your request.

How we use your information

  • to provide tutoring sessions, match students with tutors, and manage scheduling and billing;
  • to send session summaries, reminders and account messages;
  • to maintain quality, safety and security on our platform;
  • to understand how our site is used and improve it; and
  • to tell you about Math Tutor Time, including promotions you may be interested in. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

  • between the student and tutor in a session, as needed to deliver tutoring;
  • with trusted service providers who help us run Math Tutor Time, such as payment processing (Stripe), analytics and advertising (Google, Meta) and email delivery, who may only use it to provide their services to us;
  • in de-identified promotional material, as described under Session recordings; and
  • when required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or others.

How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services, meet legal and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. You can ask us to delete your account and the information associated with it at any time.

Students under 18

Many of our students are minors. Students under 18 should use Math Tutor Time with the permission and involvement of a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians can contact us at any time to review, correct or delete their child's information.

Your choices

  • You can review and update your account details by logging in, or by contacting us.
  • You can ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to delete it.
  • You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email.
  • You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and encrypted password storage. No online service can be completely secure, but we work hard to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we'll let you know by email or on our website.
